If your curious about the mic stand I use and where I got it... here it is! It's a desktop mic stand, a 13" gooseneck and a shock proof mic clip.
The benefits of using this stand idea for your doumbek are:
Does not block your face/hands, etc. like a big book stand does.
Takes up almost no space. Typically the stages at restaurants are small.
No boom stands sticking out for waiters/dancers/customers to bump into.
Light weight. I usually have to bring my own Mic Stand, Mic and Cable to gigs.
BONUS: Can be dissasembled and put inside your drum!
The three items you need are all made by a company called "On Stage". You can get them in black or chrome. Be sure to select black when buying. It just looks better.
OnStage Shock Proof Microphone Clip.
Well, any old microphone clip will do. Some mics come with them. But plastic breaks. These are made of rubber and do not break ever. google search for OnStage MY-325
On the I wrote this article Amazon has it for $6.99
That's it! Just put the 3 pieces together and you're ready to raq!
